The ones I am the most psyched about are the zinnias! They are my favorite flower. Always remind me of my Poppa's house. And of course, they bring back sweet memories of mine and Todd's sweet wedding where all my bridesmaids carried bouquets of colorful zinnias. We used them all over the place to decorate as well... straight out of my Poppa's garden. We picked them together the morning of my wedding.
And now, I go out at least a couple of days a week and gather a big bouquet of theses awesomely vivid beauties to take in and let the patients and families enjoy.
Zinnias are cool, cause they are in so many shapes and sizes!! ANd the colors... Lawd have mercy... the colors are just too much!! Some are so bright that I hardly believe I have ever even seen such a color!
We also have squash, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, purple hull peas, cucumbers....
okra, pole beans, eggplant,....
And well, to be honest these pics were taken a couple of weeks ago. All the plants are much bigger now. I need to get a shot of the sunflowers which now TOWER over me!! They all stand up tall and face the sun!
Some of our patients go out and harvest the crop for therapy. Some sit and shell the purple hull peas as part of sitting endurance and fine motor strengthening. And then the staff gets to eat fresh cucumbers (and Ranch dressing) all day long between patients.
Today one of our kids picked the veggies, grabbed a bucket, and went around SELLING her fresh vegetables to the other patients!!
It was rather hysterical. I often go out to the garden in the evening, after work, and it makes me so proud to see our garden so big and happy!! I understand that a vegetable garden is not "usual" for a medical facility, but then again, MMPT is not a "usual" therapy clinic!!
Thank you, Keif, for investing so much time into this garden. Its harvest has made many, many people happy!! And I, for one, am so thankful for the beautiful flowers, in particular. Brings back memories of my sweet Poppa!

That is one awesome garden. Bravo, Keif!
Wow! That is one well cared for garden. Fantastic!
Doesn't get much better than this...good work and kind work Keif!
It's huge! You have an awesome group.
Wow! I struggle to get a tomato plant to grow. Pretty spectacular situation all around.
Just beautiful! Isn't it always wonderful when certain things bring such happy memories of loved ones! I remember when you posted a long time ago about taking pictures of family members hands. I can remember both of my parents hand so well, but how I would love a picture of them and also my grandparent's hands. But, I think it's never too late to start! I wish I had taken pictures of my child's hands and my grand children's hands for them to enjoy some day in the future! And perhaps my own hands!
that GARDEN is beautiful. Who does the weeding? Love the flowers - one of my favorites too and my mom's are also blooming
You are right....there is nothing "usual" about MMPT.....you guys are exceptional!
Pole beans? I'm a southerner and have never heard of such.
