Not forgetting Jake

Were you as shocked as I was at myself that I posted that actually put that picture of me on the blog?  I mean, it was B.A.D!!
So, what am I gonna do?  I'm gonna post some more.  As is always the case, if there are helium balloons around, they are eventually going to be let go and be sent to Jake.
First things first, had to separate out a lime green one for my boy.
UP went the balloons for all of our angel friends....
And as they soared away, those who were there with me, all called out... "Now send Jake's to him"...
And so I did.
All these made it through the trees and upwards toward Heaven.

and so did Jake's.
As they went upward, they separated, but went extrememly high!  It was a really clear day, so we got to watch them until they were totally out of sight.
I'm glad that 6 years later, we still celebrate that sweet boy.  His life will forever be a part of ours.  And his presence will be felt at every big occasion we have around here!!

That little boy made an impact on everyone. I know the change he made in my life. I won't ever forget that smile and that courage. "11" took on a new meaning for me as well. Just very humbled to have shared his precious life through you Mel..

Made me cry this morning! That sweet boy! He's still living on through all of us who's lives he touched! Such a short life, but what a ride he had! And how MANY lives he touched! He was truly an angel on earth! Can't believe it's been 6 years!

Also it's a good reminder to all of us to make every day count! Or as Jake used to sing "live like you were dying". We can never take for granted how long we have or those we love have. I lost my sister in January, suicide, and I have certainly had time to think about wasted moments!

I will always remember that sweet face. If I see the word Believe, I think of Jake. If I hear Live Like You Are Dying - I think of Jake and how he would belt it out. And of course, a couple of 11's strung together, I most certainly think of Jake. Glad he got his green balloon.

I will always remember Jake and still cry every Christmas when The Polar Express is on because I remember the Jake train someone designed on his CaringBridge page. When I went by St. Jude's for the first time last month, I wanted to stop SO bad. That's why I WILL see you in December in Memphis!
