Art Room adventures

I had so many things that I have always dreamed I'd do with my young children when and if I ever got them. Things like sit them on my lap and read to them, bake with them on Saturday mornings, and push them for long walks in their strollers. Well, now's the time to admit that I have not been very good about any of those. Jin does most of the readibng. Todd does most of the cooking. And when DeeDee's around, she takes most of the walks. So, what's MY role, you might be asking.

It is most definitely to support their little creative minds in my art room. I'd say we do an "art project" at least three nights per week. At least!! Usually more like 6 nights!!

We made these cute little satin rosettes. I singed the edges of the flowers, and Ellie stacked them up in descending sizes. That's important learning, isn't it?!

And then we sorted them by color. Gabbi is learning her colors, so that is important too, right?!

And how bout all that painting that was going on up in that first picture?! We paint OFTEN these days!!

So, maybe I am not the super mom I'd imagined I'd be (nor the gardener... check out those DEAD mums behind Ellie and on my kitchen table)....

But what I do well, I do REALLY well!! They are getting a big ol dose of creativity, for sho!!

My kinda superwoman! Kids these days do not know enough about creativity and how to pull from within. They will so appreciate what you have taught them..it is a form of meditation..self expression and all that good stuff. They won't go hungry and now their sweet minds won't hunger for the things you have taught them and will teach them. You Rock!

Mo, never..NEVER..under estimate the significance (is that spelled correctly?), of all that you are doing with/and for your girls. You are giving them "tools" that will go far beyond reading a book or baking a cake (not that those are not good things, they are),so you just keep on keeping on, filling their little minds with all the creativity that they can hold.....the rewards will be life changing!!.....huggers, BJ

You are a wonderful Mom!! Babies do not come with directions stamped on their behinds.... as long as they are loved all else falls into place! Keep up the great job of being a wonderful mom. your babies are going to remember ALL the creativity you have taught them.

Good Morning,
Your babies are putting all sorts of things in their "file" to remember later. It amazes me how many of the little things are what mine remember and things done with Momma are the most special.
I LOVE those flowers. Gotta figure out how you did that.

mel, i don't think any of us are ever the mother's we think we will be in our heads. the most important them is to love them and let them become happy, productive little humans that grow into happy and productive big humans!!! i see examples daily of how i have helped my kids become independent young big humans lol they both have leadership skills, excellent communication skills and most importantly to us, a desire and willingness to volunteer and help others. those are all things that they have learned being under my momma wings as i have taken them on all of my adventures and activities. i am artsy fartsy and whenever they have something that needs done, they raid the supplies and use the tools that they need to create something far better than you would expect.

i think you are doing a wonderful job with all of your blessings and you have a wonderful circle of family and friends that are making sure your little family is well rounded!!! just keep enjoying what you do and keep sharing it with all of us!!!
