A blast from the past.

So you gotta understand when you move, you realize what a hoarder you actually are! Found these in a box, and then found them again sprawled out on our garage floor after Ellie also found same said box!
Did anyone else have this Fisher Price airport? Remember the yellow and red helicopter? The one you could put on the top of this airport and crank and the blades would spin on top of the copter?!
I have the world's WORST memory... but give me a tangible object of even a photo, and swooooosh the memories flood back! (that's another reason I take a million pictures... so I can remember!)
In fact, you know what else I just remembered? That garage. You know the one that had a top and a middle level? And that cool little gas pump at the bottom where you could put the spout in the whole in the cars? And the little people sat in the car and you could send it down a spiraling ramp?! And wait... wasnt' there also an elevator to get the cars to the top? My head is spinning!
I showed these to my dad and asked him if he remembered them. He said, "of course. But what I really remember is your organizing them over and over." And then I remembered again...
My dad built me a shelf that had little holes drilled in it just the size of the bottom of these Fisher Price people. That is where I "stored" them.
I was actually a very detail oriented, organized child. What in the world happened to me?!
Oh, yeah! Do you remember this merry go round? I think it came with the schoolhouse. And remember the little swing and slide?!
I love Things. I just LOVE them! I can remember this little girl with the pigtails like it was yesterday taht I was playing with them. Oh man...and look at that yellow cart! That was where we put the pretend suitcases and hooked them up behind a truck to take them around to the airplane. Yep. And now I am visualizing that white airplane! With the pull down stairs for my people to get inside!
I just don't think I could ever get rid of these now. Even Ellie Sue seemed to enjoy playing with them.
Some things are just timeless!
Toys were more fun when they were simpler.
Hope some of you got to go down Memory Lane too! It was a fun trip, wasn't it?!

I love it!!! My grandmother kept a Fisher Price carousel froom her youngest child and 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren have ALL played with that thing. She is gone now, but the carousel is at my house! I also love "things". When my great grandmother passed away I took things from her house that reminded me of her. I have a clothes pin apron, a cake pan and a set of aluminum cups. None of these things are actually used at my house but I have them to remind me of all the wonderful days I spent at her house as a child.

I LOVE all the Little People stuff. I had the house that opened and closed. I think it was brown and blue? Check out ebay. It is all there. Ahhhh....the memories.

I totally remember all of those, mainly because I still have all mine too! Did you have the Barn that "mooed" when you opened the door? Great fun!!

I have the carousel! And you are so right on the garage. I can remember playing with it in our church's nursery and wishing I had one. I think it is great you still have those toys. They are timeless. Love it.

Do you know the FP little people are now HUGE was an anniversary edition! They were cute to look at...but didnt fit into anything! I have had a hard time finding the "old ones"! I'm gonna have to look on ebay as Amy suggested!

Definitely remember those toys. I don't think I actually owned one, but remember my cousins having all of that. If you held on to it this long, I say Keep it. Your girls will love it. And yes, you are right. There was an elevator on the garage. :) And Shannon, I remember the mooing barn too.

Wow! Yes, I remember those!! They were so fun. And it required imagination! Our kids are missing out on so much today because their toys do everthing for them! I can remember the barn that said "moo" and the elevator on the garage. It would kind of lift up and "push" the cars out at the top and they would go down the ramp! SO FUN!!

Thanks again MO!

Love it!! My sister and I had the house and the school house. Someone close to us had the airport, but it wasn't us, maybe our cousins!! I think my sister has saved those things, as her house is much larger then mine, ha! I have saved all of my sons tho, so will have the memories when he starts a family.
I don't think that is hoarding at all, it just keeping your past close to your heart.
Enjoy the week, look forward to your posts!!

I totally remember this stuff, my mom saved a bunch of these for us so we could give them to our kids, I have the garage and the airplane, my sisters got some of the other stuff but I still play with my kids with these toys. Thanks for the walk down memory lane. Awesome pics of some toys they just don't make anymore.

I have the little people from my Children and now my Grands are playing with them. FYI: Just make sure you are watching them while they play with them. The people are Choking Hazard for the little ones.

I loved this post. Those are some my favorite toys from when I was a kid also. I'm like you also. I see something and so many memories associated with it come back. I remember playing for hours with them. Like you said the simpler toys were so great. You can't find good quality toys like that anymore. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and I hope you do keep them. I think Ellie and Gabbi will get hours of enjoyment out of them also.

I remember those toys so fondly. The memories just come rushing back! I still have the garage, with the elevator and the bell that would ding when you reached the top level, and my favorite, the school house. It has the playground equipment, desks, a bench, and the tray that holds the magnetic letters! I also liked that it was magnetic and had the chalkboard and eraser. I always looked forward to visiting with our cousins because they had the camper, boat, and castle. Good times.......!

Oh my stars!!! My brother and I had the parking garage. It had the little thingy where the car goes in and you crank it up to lift it to the top level and then it could slide on back down. We also had the farm. Wow, those were some good ole days!!! By the way...waiting to see pics of the house...I love your kitchen table with the bench...FINE!!!!

Oh, that was fun. I completely agree that toys now are too connected to T.V. or movie characters, they don't all have to light up or make noise or say sounds - there is no imagination left to kid's play. My girls didn't have as many of the Little People but we had buckets and crates and barrels of Play Mobile sets and Leggos and Barbies and, of course for my horse lover, Breyer horses! I miss those days - my grandson is helping to bring them back but now they are filled with lights and noise and sounds and he thinks everything works with a push of his pointer finger! Thanks for the fun, Mo - don't you dare get rid of those toys - your girls will love them.

I love love love little people! I had the little people hospital along with several of the items you have. All my little people had names like Bobby and Becky and Tommy and Dorothy. I named them based on what they looked like and felt their names should be!

Not only do I LOVE seeing these great FP toys and all the memories they bring... but also how many people are compelled to comment about THEIR love and memories of those little round people. The things that bring us together! I remember most my FP school bus and all the little holes waiting for them to fill up. I would make different school bus stops around the living room so I could 'pick up' and 'drop off' all my little people.

THE BARN! Of course! A classic... and it was right next to my old FP record player that held the records in a slat in the back. My favorite one was "Camptown Races"

I could go on and on about how wonderful FP was!

Thanks for the stroll down memory lane. My little brother and I play with every one of them. I miss that the little people were made of wood...I miss that they were actually little. My brother was here tonight helping me hang pictures...we laughed until we cried looking at these pictures. Makes me want to go through my parents attic :-)

Ok, I am so wishing that we would have kept our little people, but when we moved when I was younger, a lot of stuff got given away or thrown away. So love playing with them. Thanks for memory lane, and wishing my kid were a little bit younger and I still had my little people so many hours of fun and never got bored!

Thanks,
Di

My mother in law still has the school house (with all the ABCs, people, and swings, etc.) My son loved it so much I tried to see if they still made it. They do.....just not the same as the old, big one. I found it at target. Needless to say my son didn't care for it as much as the "real deal".
