HAIR DO!

Oh man. Thank you to all who talked me down off the ledge yesterday and today. I have a whole new topic of discussion for tonight... we'll get to that in a minute! For now....
HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A HEAD OF HAIR AS BIG AND LUXURIOUS AS THIS ONE!?
I don't know if it is because so many people comment on Gabbi's hair or what, but Ellie's newest obsession is, "Mama, can we go buy me some hair today?" She is referring to long, brown hair! She picks out the hair she wants in magazines. (Wish you could see her right now, 100% completely and seriously picking out her entire fall wardrobe in the new Hanna Anderson magazine!!) The girl has great style! "Mom, I don't want these leg warmers. I want these purple leggings and these boots. Hey, mom. I don't want her hair. I want long hair. Hey, mom. I need both of these outfits. Oooooh, mom, I might want this black skirt and this little outfit!" ANd by the way when you say, "outfitttttt", go up real high in pitch on the "fiiittttt" part! She is even dogearing the pages as she marks things she likes. I swear, I have created a monster! I even went and got the camera as proof, because THIS , my dear friends, is hysterical!
Ok, back to my drama. These two girls are worn out at the end of the day and just not their usual selves. I understand they may need to be around the germage to get their antibodies all built up, but I can't dig the tired eyes, snotty noses, and goopy eyes. Yay for my blog. I have had an offer for someone to keep them at my house again. At the new house. And Staci may get on some of the action too, since we are next door neighbors and all. I have had a couple of offers actually. Can't wait to see if this pans out.

Also, Miss Kathy. I would love to heed your words of advice regarding a schedule. I am NOT good in this department. I am a vampire! I like to sleep in late and stay up late. Because, at present, we are all in one room, it is hard to get them to keep a schedule other than ours. And as you can imagine, me going to bed at 7:30 AIN'T gonna get it! Ellie doesn't close her eyes until every last light is out! We hope to change this routine in the new house. We have been talking to her for some time about sleeping in her own bed. For whatever reason, she always mentions someone else who is going to sleep with her every night... JinJin, Mary Mallison, Emma Lou, Maddi... always mentions someone! Alas.... no other live-ins at this time, thank you very much!

Now. Next question... what is it like to be hormonally imbalanced?! I am being serious here. I even looked up early symptoms of pregnancy. OMG. Shoot me now! One of the girls at my office thinks my symptoms sound like hormonal issues of some sort. I am a NUT! Antsy, can't remember ANYTHING, unsettled in general. Let's be honest here... I have a LOT going on! New house, two babies, crazy things happening at work, just busy, busy, busy. And I AM 4-1! So, what's the whole thing about hormones? When to have them checked? What would be a sign of them out of whack? Let's here from you over 40's. Or whenever these things start occurring. LORD, give me strength!

Mo

Oh, and if we are friends, check out GG's birthday party pics on Facebook. Such a cute little angel! If we aren't be sure and tell me you are a blogger so I can confirm our friendship. There are a lot of nuts in the world, who aren't "close" like me and you!

Sounds like them to me! Mine are getting "tweaked" right now and I am under kinda the same stress, not new house but, surgery's for K, back to school with 5 kiddo's work the house.
My hormonal issue's wern't gradual though and it was expected, one minute I was a 30 year old the next BAM no ovaries! Fun times up untill now the balance has been good but stress seems to have thrown me off kilter again.
Hope it evens out for you soon!

I am very much like you on the vampire thing. I haven't worked in a month and i stay up all night and sleep all day. This is the way my kids were raised too - they are 2 years and 6 weeks apart. I never had a schedule, breast fed them both whenever they wanted. Stayed up till all hours and got out of bed whenever - you would think they would have turned out like me - right??? Nope, they are both (gag) morning people! They are just like their daddy, except he wants to go to sleep when the sun goes down and jonathan waits till about 10:30 now (14 years old) and caitlin usually passes out around 11:30 (16yo) if school is in. Even during the summer they don't stay on my schedule and now caitlin is wondering why her puppy isn't getting up in the morning when she gets ready for school - that is because she knows i am awake and spends half the night playing with me.

As for the hormone thing - no idea? I would guess that stress is just a major factor for you right now. Things may settle down a little once you are completely moved into your house. This time of year - fall headed into the holidays - is a very busy time, so take the time to stop and count your blessings.

As for your kid's having the sniffles, my kids weren't around many other kids when they were small either. When Caitlin was in kindergarten she caught everything. She missed 11 days of school. The girls will be fine until you get your new sitter's lined up - I was wondering what happened to the "onesie" babysitter? I would babysit for you if you bring them to WV - tell GG that we are getting ready to add 30-40 chickens to our little zoo here and she will want to live here with me!

Sweet thing. You are stressed to the eyebrows. Yes, the girlies need, need to sleep apart from their parents. Period. Paragraph. End of discussion. They will howl. Let them. Give them a hug, and back in their own beds. Really. It is best to start it now.

Think a about when two sisters were told by JinNin that it was time for bed. Where did you go to sleep? Bedtime for these girlies should be earlier to keep you healthy! You are so good, so real, so blessed. A week or so of howling will do everyone a world of good! Come visit! I can almost see the shelves of my craft room! Did the big purge.

Maybe they are fussy, droopy eyes and everything else because they are just tired from having fun playing all day with the friends? Give daycare at least a month. If you find it isn't working out then, then I would quit, but you have to give it time since you aren't used to it. But then again, some people want them at home...but also remember, they need to be around other kids their ages to learn to share and just overall interact -- or they may have a hard time come school.

As for bed....my son wanted me to lay with him until he was almost 9 years old. I understand that. He could stay up past midnight if I let him. He is now 11, and it is 10 PM here and he is laying next to dad (who is sleeping) on my bed watching The Office. lol You have to do what works for you on the bed thing, I believe. Everybody is different and I don't think there is a right or wrong. Some people are totally against the kids in the room. I personally love it. My kids are not harmed from sleeping with me when they were little.

Sounds like anxiety to me(which is a hormonal imbalance)....I would know....as you know I am the poster child for an anxiety riddled life! I take Lexapro daily for mine and it works like a charm...knocks the edge off so that you can think and function reasonably again. It basically makes you "chill out", but doesn't "drug" you. Go talk to your MD about it-it takes about 2 weeks to get in your system good so get on it QUICKLIKE. Love ya!

I was thinking about your hormone question and you need to make sure your nutrition issues are taken care of while you are so stressed. I know that the lap band can cause issues that you may not even think about. You may just need to take the time to visit your primary doc and have some basic labs done to make sure the system is running normal. Make sure they run a pregnacy serumm too - lol!!!!! (you wouldn't be the first person to adopt and then get pregnant - maybe this is how todd will get his boy ha ha)

just take the time to take care of yourself. you are obviously concerned or you wouldn't have even mentioned it!!!!!! you can't be sick, where would we get our "mo" fix???

Cute, cute, cute! I laughed right out loud about Ellie wanting to buy hair - that is hysterical.
I'm not quite 40 yet, and I haven't been through the change; however, I have had hormonal issues since my partial hysterectomy 3 years ago. In my humble opinion, I would call the clinic and just set up an appointment. These issues just seem to have a way of manifesting if not treated. Plus, you've got SO many irons in the fire right now, I can't even imagine your stress level.
Take good care of yourself - there's only one you!!! Please keep us posted.
Blessings...

I'm only 37 but I have had my share of issues. My body was all out of wack from a B12 defency, I now do shots once a week. I also had issues with my thyroid not working up to par so now I take a pilol everyday. These two issues were driving me crazy but I'm better now that they are under control.

Awwww poor Ellie - you have beautiful hair, too sweetie!!

As far as your hormonal issues - you can have blood work done to see whats going on. I just did that exact thing (I'm 45 UGH did I just say that out loud??) Anyway, she was able to tell me all sorts of things going on in my body - even that I have no menopausael <--sp? signs going on at all, yet! Good Luck to you with that!! Boy what us women have to go through!

I haven't commented in a while but always read. I'm so sorry that you seem to be a little out of sorts but, honestly, with the schedule that you keep, I can't say that I'm surprised. Whew....some days just reading about it wears me out. I prayed for you this morning and hope that you (and your girls) get rested up and recharged soon.

I also had to share a funny story about "hair":

My neighbor's little girl, Lauren, is about 3. She has the cutest little short asymmetrical bob haircut. Her hair texture seems similar to Gabbi's but it's simply cut short. So smooth and sweet. Anyway, as Lauren's gotten a little older and noticed the other little neighbor girls' long and sometimes curly locks, she decided she wanted that long hair. She went to her mom and said, "I want long hair like....." and her Mommy (who wants to keep that cute little bob) calmly and sympathetically said, "oh Lauren, I know how you feel; I always wanted long hair too but, you know, God gives some people long hair but he gave us short hair". So funny. Lauren totally bought it. For now. And her Mom says hopefully it will be a while before she figures out the truth.

I went through the daycare thing with Josh many years ago. His wise doctor, Dr. Meddor, told me if you have the choice, keeping a child out of daycare is best. Josh was in the hospital 5 times before he was 5. Dr. Meddor and I were close. I trusted him totally and took his advice. Sadly, some people don't have a choice. Thank God for Josh's Nanna.

You need to go to your doctor and let them do blood tests to see if you are starting the "change." I thought I was a couple of years ago (I'm 46) but I wasn't. Darn!! Simple blood tests will tell.

About the sleeping arrangements: Been there and done that. My hubby worked nights when Josh was born so I just put him in bed with me. He was around 13 when he finally started sleeping in his room!!! Thank God for king size beds.

Sounds like a trip to the doc is in your very near future. You need to have yourself checked out. It could be hormones, stress, anxiety. It could be some many things. Take care of yourself, sweet girl. And do it NOW! We all love you! I get so many smiles, laughs and giggles from you that I could never begin to thank you for them. I would so miss you and the girls if you didn't blog. Take care of MO now, please. Let us all know when your appointment is on tomorrow's blog!

Sounds very much like anxiety to me also. I am 43 yrs old and I know my body is not as it used to be so why should I expect my nerves to be! I am 43 yrs old and I have 12 and 6 yr old boys. My doctor asked me at my 41 yr old checkup, "How are the boys?" My response was, "One is fine (the youngest) and one stresses me out as soon as he walks in the door. I have decided God allow man to invent medicine for a reason, and I need some". So, my doctor gave me Paxil, and it is great. I was hesitant about medication because I didn't want people to think I was losing it or unable to care for my children. However, I have found out that more and more people my age take some type of anxiety medicine. It is just a fact of life that our bodies change- in all sorts of ways. I have also had lapband and I love it. However, my doctor told me that as you lose weight, your horomones and lots of other things change in your body. I have blood work done once a year to check everything from horomones to liver, heart, kidneys, and any detection of cancer in my body. It is part of my "over 40" yearly checkup my doctor orders along with a mamagram. Paxil does not make me feel light headed, spaced out, or anything like that. It simply takes the edge off and allows "little problems" to remain little!!!! Hope this helps... Love the girls and reading your blog daily.

Mo, I think a Drs visit is definitely in order! I suffered similar symptoms as yours and it was discovered I have a thyroid condition and extreme anemia. This coupled w/pre menopause only added to my symptoms. Two years later, post hysterectomy *due to continued issues w/fibroids*, I'm feeling more like myself now.

Some days I still feel a little frazzled, so don't think it is a cure-all. You just gotta STOP AND BREATHE, remember, there is only ONE YOU!

So far as the girls sleeping in your bed, if it works for you...well okay. However, I think the girls should have a set bedtime. I had to set those boundaries for Bree. Just because mommy/daddy are up, does not mean you can stay up too. Kids need to know boundaries. Set a bedtime schedule and stick to it. You can set a routine Mo. You see it done all day, every day in your practice! Practice what you "teach"!

Let's say bedtime is a 8:30. Right after baths, you should start the "bedtime warning". It should go like this..Okay Ellie and Gabbi, you a few more minutes of playtime and it's time for storytime. Then at 8:15, grab one of their favorite books and get them snuggled in. I found that books that have the "Good night" theme seem to make "bedtime" a little more exciting. The GOOD NIGHT BOOK is still Bree's favorite and I read it to her so routinely, she actually can read the words VERBATIM page to page! No, she does not know sight words, its just ROUTINE, and kids are like sponges..they soak things up.! Wooo..their goes a bird!! AnyWHO...at the end of the book it says "and somebody turns off the light" Bree REALLY loves the idea of clicking of the lamp, so much so, "lights off" seems FUN!! She snuggles down and I kiss her and it's good night! No fussing, no whining! Some nights it's a little singing accompanied by a few "Mommmmmeeee" I go in only one time and see "what the problem is" which is usually isnt and don't engage in a long conversation. Before long, she is out like a light!

Mo, establishing a good bedtime is gonna be harder on you than the girls. I know you love those girls w/every ounce of your being, but a little crying is not gonna hurt'em. Yes, they will cry their little hearts out and probably scream their heads off, but stick to it!

A well-rested toddler, makes for easier mornings!! No doubt!

So far as daycare, I agree w/Cheri, give it a month or so. If not go with your resources. I think the girls are adjusting to their new routine. I say this from experienced. Being a "new mother" after years of being a SAHM w/my bio kids, daycare was "new to me" and yes, I grappled w/the fact that she had "the sniffles", was crying most mornings I dropped her off and suffered a case of THE GUILTS bigtime!!! After a few weeks, Bree was excited about going "to school" and playing w/her new friends! She has learned alot and I'm very impressed with the school at a whole!

Overall, we are cheering you on and I hope you are feeling up to par real soon! However, I would be tickled (PINK) if you were PREGGO, or heck even tickled (BLUE) (for that SON you mentioned in a prior post) See we really don't forget what you write about!!! :)

Now go stock up on some BEDTIME BOOKS, before you "FORGET"!!!! LOL!!!

Your girls are beautiful and the way you love them is just grand. I also turned 40 this year and things have been different since. It's like my memory missed the exit. Take care, rest some when you can, and please keep blogging would love to have you as a friend on facebook.

Could be stress/anxiety or premenopausal. Either one is a hormone imbalance. A blood test will determine. Simple enough right? Hmmmmmmmm well the blood test is. The managing may not be. It could range from a simple diet change, daily exercise,NO caffeine, biofeedback or medication. You have ALOT on your plate right now. Chaulk it up to that but once you're all moved in&settled if it continues go see your doctor.

Go get a check up friend. Can't take care of those beautiful girls if you aren't well. I have been having the same symptoms for a while. Mike says a freezer wouldn't cool me off. Although some of the RA meds tend to make me hot too. LOL I now sleep with a fan on and he and Macon bundle up. I don't comment often but I read daily. I can't wait until you get in the house, I would love to come do some crafty things.

Well---I think it looks like you got plenty of advice on the hormone issue!! haha I'm 42 myself, and definitely think that hormones being "out of whack" has an effect on me sometimes. Who can tell what's just stress, and what's not? I attribute a lot of mine to going through a surprise divorce after 24 years of marriage, having a kid in college, etc. etc. etc.....But everyone is right in saying----WE CAN'T DO WITHOUT YOU---so go get yourself checked out!!!! That hair on Gabbi Girl is the most precious thing! She looks like a baby doll! She's got the throw-back to the 80's big hair without even trying :)..But you tell Ellie that we love her beautiful blond curls too!!! With her stylin' self! She's just too much....LOVE all of ya'll!!!!
